Mass is a theatre piece by American composer Leonard Bernstein, first performed in 1971. It blends elements of classical, Broadway, rock, gospel and liturgical music and employs choir, soloists, orchestra and amplified band to juxtapose sacred texts with contemporary vernacular, reflecting Bernstein's interest in combining concert and theatrical forms in his later career.
