Symphony "Manfred", Op. 58 is a programme symphony by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, completed in 1885 and first performed in 1886. The work employs a Romantic orchestral palette with dramatic, brooding material, expansive orchestration and an episodic, programme-driven structure inspired by Byron, occupying a large-scale, somewhat experimental place in Tchaikovsky's symphonic output between his Fifth and Sixth symphonies.
