Symphony No. 1 is the first symphony by English composer Edward Elgar, completed and premiered in 1908. The work is a large orchestral symphony in A flat major that uses late-Romantic harmony, rich orchestral textures and dramatic contrasts, and it followed his earlier orchestral and choral works as his first major symphonic effort.
