The SP-505 is a sampler manufactured by Boss and introduced in 2002, later discontinued in 2005. It helped shape the sound of beat-driven hip-hop and lo-fi electronic music, as DJs and bedroom producers used its pattern features and effects to chop and rework samples for live performance and home production.
