Worship Music
Worship music, which began to gain traction in 20th century America, is essentially the soundtrack for people trying to connect with the divine whilst hoping not to trip over their own shoelaces. Characterised by its often uplifting melodies and lyrics that resemble greeting cards with an emotive twist, it can sometimes feel like a deeply sincere sing-along session. Some might say it’s the only genre that can successfully turn an entire church into a karaoke night, and goodness knows how they manage to harmonise through all that conviction.
