Western Swing

Western Swing, that delightful concoction of country and jazz, sprouted from the southern states of the US in the 1920s and 30s, when folks decided two-step dancing deserved a bit more pizzazz. It’s marked by sweet fiddle melodies, honky-tonk pianos, and a cheeky horn section that suggests everyone should be having a jolly good time, preferably whilst swinging their partner round the dance floor. It's like someone took a country barn dance and invited the whole jazz band for a hoedown, which, given the right company, is probably the most fun you can have in a Stetson hat.
