Synthpunk
Synthpunk emerged in the late 1970s and early 1980s, primarily in the UK and US, as a cheeky blend of DIY punk attitude and synthetic sounds that made it clear the future wasn’t just coming, it was busy synthesising itself. It features frenetic beats, snarky lyrics, and keyboards that might make you think someone forgot to plug in their guitar, but somehow the result is wonderfully vibrant and rebellious. You could say it's like punk's more technophilic cousin; instead of spitting on authority, it’s often simply beeping at it from a distance.
