Surf Pop

Surf Pop emerged in the early 1960s, primarily from California's sun-soaked shores, as a bright and breezy form of rock that promised endless summer vibes and a much-needed excuse to wear flip-flops year-round. It's characterised by jangly guitars, upbeat melodies, and lyrics about, oddly enough, surfing, cars, and occasionally, heartbreak—because who hasn't had an existential crisis while waiting for the next wave? Despite its somewhat whimsical subject matter, Surf Pop managed to inspire a whole generation with its carefree attitude, proving that all you really need is a catchy tune and a sandy beach to feel like a star.
