Slowcore

Slowcore emerged in the early 1990s, primarily in the United States, as a delicate rebellion against the louder, more frenetic sounds of the era; think of it as indie rock’s quieter cousin who insists on staying indoors. Characterised by sparse instrumentation, melancholic lyrics, and a generally lugubrious pace, it often sounds as though the musicians might have all just woken up from a long nap and found their instruments at the end of the bed. This genre is basically the perfect soundtrack for those moments when life feels a bit too much, or when you just need an excuse to scroll through old photos in utter silence.
