Sleaze Rock

Sleaze Rock emerged in the late 1980s, mostly from the glam metal scene of Los Angeles, proving that too much hairspray can indeed lead to artistic expression, or at least a very shiny audience. With its naughty lyrics and an abundance of leather and spandex, it sounds like a raucous blend of rock riffs and cheeky pop sensibilities, as if a Kiss concert had a particularly boisterous afterparty. You could say it carried the spirit of rock 'n' roll's mischief into the '90s, even if its lyrical content occasionally resembled a teenage boy's diary after one too many energy drinks.
