Screamo
Screamo emerged in the 1990s from the underground punk scene, and is basically what happens when someone decides that lyrics should be screamed rather than sung, often whilst thrashing about like they've accidentally sat on something quite hot. Characterised by intense vocal delivery, rapid tempo changes, and a tendency to mix melody with pure emotional chaos, it's a genre that really believes shouting is a legitimate form of communication. It’s like a passionate debate where everyone’s yelling and the only listener is the neighbourhood cat, who may or may not be impressed.
