Salsa

Salsa originated in the 1960s amongst the vibrant Latin communities in New York, serving as a musical melting pot of Cuban and Puerto Rican rhythms, all whilst trying to outdo each other in energetic dance-offs. Characterised by its upbeat tempo, brass instruments, and an undeniable urge to make you move, it sounds like a fiesta waiting to happen, with singers often throwing in a bit of call-and-response for good measure. Aside from being a favourite at weddings and questionable family gatherings, it's the kind of music that assures you that calories burned on the dance floor don't count.
