Sacred Choral
Sacred choral music began in the Medieval period, with monks warbling away in Latin probably to distract from the fact they were missing out on social life. Characterised by intricate harmonies and the rather pious task of sounding heavenly, it often features large choirs singing a bit like a group of angels having a singalong, with a touch of solemnity thrown in for good measure. This genre has been known to evoke the kind of emotional responses usually reserved for a particularly moving sermon or, quite possibly, an overly dramatic soap opera finale.
