Regional Mexican

Regional Mexican music originated in the rural areas of Mexico, heavily influenced by folk traditions and the need for a good tune to accompany a fiesta or a lament over a lost love, whichever comes first. It's characterised by lively accordions, strumming guitars, and occasionally men singing about their amigas or sombreros with a heartfelt seriousness that few British balladeers could muster. This genre has achieved notable cultural impact, being the soundtrack to more family gatherings, weddings, and binge-watching sessions of telenovelas than one can shake a maraca at.
