Rave
Rave music burst onto the scene in late 1980s Britain, fuelled by warehouse parties and a desire to dance like no one was watching—mostly because they weren't, as they were all too busy raving. Its sound is a pulsating mix of electronic beats, synthesised melodies, and the occasional vocal sample that makes you wonder if you’ve just stepped into a sci-fi film from the 1990s. Rave culture also popularised the rather cheeky custom of taking an outlandish amount of ecstasy, which was presumably the reason why few can remember the actual events of the night.
