Psychedelic Funk

Psychedelic funk sprang up in the late 1960s, largely influenced by the vivid experimentation happening both in the studio and on the streets, especially in the US and UK, where musicians decided a standard groove was just too pedestrian. Picture swirling guitars, wobbly bass lines, and rhythms that make your feet move whilst your brain takes a little holiday; it's like a musical acid trip without the need for tie-dye. This genre has produced tracks that often challenge the very notion of what dance music should be and have made an appearance at a few festivals, because who doesn’t want to feel slightly lost while bopping along to a mind-bending beat?
