Process Music

Process Music sprouted in the 1960s, primarily from the avant-garde movements in the US and Europe, as composers cheekily declared that the act of creating music could be just as fascinating as the final product. This genre is characterised by its focus on the process of making sounds, often resembling an extended experiment where predictability is left at the door; imagine listening to someone trying to tune a radio whilst a kettle boils. The result tends to sound like organised chaos, much like a governmental meeting where everyone is mumbling their own point—quite enlightening if you understand the references, but a bit baffling otherwise.
