Post Industrial
Post-Industrial music emerged in the late 1970s, primarily in the UK, as a delightful blend of experimental sounds and a healthy dose of disdain for established musical norms; it was like someone decided to take a hammer to the jukebox and see what happened. Characterised by the use of found sounds, stark electronics, and that charmingly grim sense of detachment, it often sounds like the soundtrack to a dystopian film where the plot is still being sorted out. Interestingly, this genre paved the way for everything from ambient soundscapes to the industrial goth scene, proving that while the world might be falling apart, at least the music can be quite avant-garde.
