Polka
Polka is a lively dance music genre that originated in 19th century Bohemia, possibly invented by someone who thought life needed a bit more oom-pah-pah. Characterised by its quick tempo and the unmistakable sound of accordion and brass, it’s the sort of music that could inspire even the most obstinate wallflower to attempt a twirl. Interestingly, it became popularised in the United States by immigrants, transforming wedding receptions into spirited extravaganzas where no one really cares if you’ve got two left feet.
