Party Rap

Party rap kicked off in the late 1980s, primarily in the US, when artists realised that a good beat and cheeky lyrics could transform any gathering into a lively knees-up. It sounds like the musical equivalent of a cheeky pint, with catchy hooks, infectious rhythms, and lyrics that often celebrate the finer joys of life, like dancing and, well, perhaps the odd beverage or two. This genre has inadvertently led to some of the most enduring party anthems, proving that sometimes, all you need is a catchy beat and a reason to let your hair down.
