New Prog

New Prog emerged in the late 1980s and early 1990s, in a brave attempt to revive the grandiosity of classic progressive rock whilst leaving behind, hopefully, most of the questionable fashion choices. Characterised by complex time signatures, lofty concepts, and the occasional twelve-minute keyboard solo, it’s a genre that invites listeners to ponder existential crises whilst headbanging in their living rooms. Fun fact: its fans often debate whether it’s better to play air guitar or simply admire the album cover art, which is usually some sort of fantastical scene requiring a magnifying glass to comprehend fully.
