Minimal Music
Minimal Music emerged in the 1960s, primarily in the United States, as composers decided less was indeed more; who knew simplifying things could be so avant-garde? Characterised by repetitive patterns, steady pulses, and an almost comical patience, it often sounds like someone accidentally left a metronome on while having a philosophical crisis. This genre has since influenced everything from ambient to pop, proving that even the simplest ideas can get quite complicated with enough time and a few cups of tea.
