Jump Blues
Jump Blues emerged in the 1940s as a cheeky concoction of rhythm and blues, particularly in the vibrant dance halls of America; it’s like traditional blues but with a couple of cheeky cocktails to loosen things up. Characterised by bold horns, upbeat tempos, and lyrics often focusing on love and slightly dubious escapades, it’s what you might call a toe-tapper with a grin. Of course, it paved the way for rock and roll, demonstrating that a bit of swing and sass can lead to some rather raucous nights out.
