Jazz Guitar

Jazz guitar emerged in the early 20th century, primarily in the smoky bars of New Orleans, where musicians were too cool to stick to the rules and preferred to improvise their way through sets. Characterised by complex chords and improvisation, it often sounds like an incredibly talented chap has spun a web of melody whilst simultaneously trying to avoid stepping on his own shoelaces. The genre has since influenced everything from rock to lounge music, making it the musical equivalent of that one mate who knows a little about everything and won't stop talking at the pub.
