Glam Metal
Glam metal burst onto the scene in the 1980s, primarily from the Hollywood strip, where it became an outrageous cocktail of hairspray, spandex, and guitar solos so grand they practically needed their own postcode. Characterised by catchy hooks, brash theatrics, and vocalists who often looked like they’d raided a charity shop for their outfits, it’s the kind of sound that makes you want to throw on some eyeliner and strut down a very brightly-lit street. It might not have the gravitas of its musical siblings, but it certainly left a mark, proving that sometimes, more glitter means more fun.
