Post-grunge emerged in the mid-1990s, primarily in the United States, as a response to the overly earnest angst of grunge and, let’s be honest, the desire to make some proper cash. Characterised by heavy guitar riffs, catchy melodies, and an air of rugged sincerity, it’s like rock 'n' roll that's had a few too many pints and is now feeling a bit cheerful. This genre has entertained millions, proving that you can still shout about your feelings whilst awkwardly trotting out tunes everyone can mumble along to in the pub.
