Duduk

The duduk music genre hails from Armenia, appearing sometime around the 5th century, as if the creator thought playing an ancient wooden instrument and making everyone weep simultaneously was a great idea. Characterised by its melancholic melodies and distinctive, breathy tone, it sounds like the instrument has just received some bad news and is expressing its sorrow in the most poetic way possible. The duduk has become a symbol of Armenian culture, often employed in films and commercials, proving that even heartache can sell a good product.
