Dixieland
Dixieland music sprouted in early 20th century New Orleans, a delightful concoction of ragtime, blues, and a penchant for spontaneous cheerfulness, as if the musicians simply couldn't wait to have a party. Characterised by lively brass instruments, syncopated rhythms, and an inexplicable urge to wear white suits while playing, it often sounds like a street parade wandered into a jazz café. Interestingly, it’s become the soundtrack of choice for many an overenthusiastic marching band, proving that you can indeed jazz up any occasion, even if it’s only to get the dog excited.
