Deep House originated in the 1980s, primarily in Chicago, when DJs decided that house music could do with a bit more soul and a lot less brashness. It’s essentially house music’s introspective cousin, featuring smooth, lush synths, mellow vocals, and a bassline that could make you weep with happiness or at least tilt your head in appreciation.
