Deep House

Deep House originated in the 1980s, primarily in Chicago, when DJs decided that house music could do with a bit more soul and a lot less brashness. It’s essentially house music’s introspective cousin, featuring smooth, lush synths, mellow vocals, and a bassline that could make you weep with happiness or at least tilt your head in appreciation. It’s the genre that assures you that having feelings is perfectly acceptable—even on the dance floor, whilst quietly hoping you can blend in with those who’ve actually got their life sorted out.
