Cumbia

Cumbia originated in Colombia during the colonial period, when Indigenous, African, and Spanish musical traditions decided they quite fancied mixing together, much like a mulled wine that's had too many ingredients added. Characterised by a catchy rhythm, accordion melodies, and a certain feet-shuffling quality, it's the sort of music that can entice even the most reserved of souls onto the dance floor, perhaps against their better judgement. Spreading like wildfire through Latin America, Cumbia has since evolved into several regional varieties, each inviting its own enthusiastic fanbase who are always ready to educate you on why theirs is the superior version.
