Creative Jazz

Creative Jazz emerged in the 1960s, primarily as a rebellious offshoot of traditional jazz, where the musicians decided that following the rules was far too stuffy and outdated. It's characterised by a free-form approach, which often sounds like a conversational argument between saxophones, trumpets, and the odd bongo, all trying to outdo each other without a coherent plan. Fans would argue that it encourages spontaneous expression, whilst most sane folk might simply wonder if they've accidentally walked into a pigeon convention.
