Cowpunk
Cowpunk sprang up in the 1980s over in the US and the UK, where cowboys met punks and realised that wearing denim and leather together was indeed a splendid idea. It combines elements of country music with the raw energy of punk, resulting in tunes that sound like someone’s just discovered a bar in a tumbleweed town and decided to throw a raucous party. Not only does it challenge the stereotypes of both genres, but it also proves that honky-tonks and mosh pits can coexist, if you squint hard enough and enjoy a good whiskey.
