Contemporary Bluegrass

Contemporary Bluegrass emerged in the 1980s and 1990s, largely in the United States, as a cheeky twist on the traditional bluegrass sounds, with musicians breaking out their banjos and fiddles like they just won the lottery. It retains those rapid-fire instrumentals and harmonies, but with a splash of modern influences, making it sound like your granddad's old records have gone to a festival and come back sporting a trendy haircut. The genre has become a delightful confluence for both die-hard fans and the merely curious, proving that you can indeed have your acoustic cake and eat it too, preferably whilst wearing wellies and a smile.
