Bro Country

Bro-Country emerged in the early 2000s, primarily in the Southern United States, when someone decided that country music could double as a soundtrack for beer-fuelled tailgate parties. Characterised by its catchy hooks, lyric themes of pickup trucks, girls in daisy dukes, and a persistent endorsement of rural living, it often sounds like a cross between country music and a frat party gone tragically wrong. Surprisingly, this genre has managed to capture mainstream attention, proving that even the most questionable of musical fads can find a loyal following, particularly amongst those who enjoy denim and ipod playlists that sound suspiciously similar.
