Ambient Techno
Ambient Techno emerged in the late 1980s, primarily in the UK, when musicians decided that both pummelling beats and ethereal soundscapes could coexist quite beautifully, much like tea and biscuits. Characterised by its lush, atmospheric layers and rhythmic, pulsing grooves, it sounds like the musical equivalent of taking a very tranquil stroll through a dreamy landscape, while simultaneously keeping an eye out for the occasional rave. Fans of this genre often insist that it helps with deep thinking, though it's probably just a clever excuse for long, blissful morning lie-ins instead.
