Alternative Pop
Alternative Pop emerged in the late 20th century, marrying the catchy hooks of mainstream pop with the experimental edge of alternative rock, as if both genres decided to throw a party and invite everyone. It's often characterised by quirky arrangements, introspective lyrics, and the sort of melodies that linger in your head long after you've shuffled off this mortal coil. Many artists in this genre have made a nice living by being just avant-garde enough to keep their parents confused whilst still being able to hum along from the living room sofa.
