Afrofuturism

Afrofuturism music emerged in the late 20th century as a glorious cocktail of African diaspora culture, sci-fi imaginings, and a good dose of funk, proving that even the cosmos could use a bit of groove. This genre fuses various styles, from soul and jazz to electronic and hip hop, all while encouraging listeners to contemplate a future where black identity is celebrated amongst neon lights and interplanetary travel. Surprisingly, it also invites fans to think about the past and future at the same time, which is quite the mental workout for a Saturday night.
