Afro Cuban Jazz

Afro-Cuban Jazz emerged in the mid-20th century when a few blokes in Cuba decided that blending traditional Cuban rhythms with jazz would be a jolly good time, resulting in a genre that makes you want to shake maracas and sip rum. It’s characterised by complex rhythms, syncopation, and a healthy dose of improvisation; think of it as jazz that had a rather spirited holiday in Havana and came back a bit sun-kissed. The cultural impact is undeniable; it’s like the musical equivalent of a fiesta that never ends, proving that combining two great things can yield something utterly marvellous, or at least very danceable.
