Afro Cuban

Afro-Cuban music emerged in the early 20th century, primarily in Havana, as a delightful mash-up of African rhythms and Spanish melodies, proving that cultural exchange can lead to marvellous noise. Characterised by polyrhythmic percussion, vibrant brass sections, and the occasional singing that sounds like a joyful argument, it’s what happens when you invite a party of drummers, dancers, and singers to have a right good time. One could say it’s the soundtrack to any gathering where the aim is to dance until your legs give out or, more importantly, until the rum runs dry.
