Acid Techno
Acid Techno burst onto the scene in the late 1980s, primarily in the UK, when someone decided that both techno and psychedelic acid house needed an outrageous lovechild to shake the dance floors. Characterised by its squelchy, resonant 303 basslines and relentless beats, it often sounds like a rave that accidentally invited a synthesiser to the party, and that synthesiser has taken a bit too much of the good stuff. With its roots in underground clubs, Acid Techno has fostered a community of dedicated fans who can often be found passionately explaining why their favourite track is the ultimate anthem, whilst maintaining a pleasant air of slightly bemused eccentricity.
