Acid

Acid music, born out of the late 1980s Chicago house scene, is essentially what happens when you hand a synthesiser to someone on a caffeine high and tell them to go mad. Characterised by its squelchy bass lines and psychedelic soundscapes, it can feel like a party in a rave while simultaneously attempting to take you on a trip through a cartoon wormhole. It's the genre that taught us that just because something is weird and a bit wobbly, doesn't mean it can't get you dancing until dawn.
