90s Rock
90s Rock burst onto the scene, primarily in the US and UK, as a delightful blend of grunge, alternative, and a sprinkling of Britpop; it evolved during a time when guitars were still deemed essential, and flannel shirts were practically formal wear. Characterised by angsty lyrics, big choruses, and a lingering disdain for anything resembling a catchy pop melody, it provided a soundtrack for both teenage rebellion and existential musings, often accompanied by guitars that sounded as if they were having a nervous breakdown. It's a wonder how such a cacophony became anthems, but then again, who doesn't appreciate a good shout when dealing with life's absurdities?
