The SL-1200 is a direct-drive turntable manufactured by Technics and introduced in 1972. Its high-torque motor and pitch-adjustment slider made it the universal standard for DJing, and was used by Grandmaster Flash and generations of hip-hop, house, and techno DJs to turn the turntable into a musical instrument.
