Jimmy Cobb

Jimmy Cobb was an American jazz drummer from Washington, D.C., who began his professional career in the early 1950s and became associated with hard bop and modal jazz. Known for his understated timekeeping, use of cymbal textures and swing-rooted phrasing, his restrained, supportive style helped define rhythmic approaches in small-group and modal jazz while remaining grounded in blues and swing traditions.
