Bill Dixon

Bill Dixon was an American jazz trumpeter and composer who began his career in the 1950s and became associated with the free jazz and avant-garde movements. He explored extended trumpet techniques, sparse textures and large-ensemble compositions, and organised musicians and taught, contributing to the development of experimental jazz and compositional approaches in the United States.
