Qara Qarayev

Qara Qarayev was an Azerbaijani composer born in Baku in 1918 who began his musical career in the 1930s and worked primarily in classical, symphonic, ballet and film music. He incorporated Azerbaijani folk motifs and modal systems into symphonic, ballet and film compositions throughout his career, contributing to the development of 20th-century Azerbaijani classical music within the Soviet cultural context.
