Candido

Candido is a Cuban percussionist who began his professional career in Havana in the 1940s before relocating to New York City and is associated with Afro-Cuban jazz and Latin jazz. He expanded the conga setup to multiple drums and integrated Afro-Cuban rhythms into big band, Latin jazz and jazz contexts, helping to bring Afro-Cuban percussion techniques into US jazz and popular music.
