Selim Palmgren

Selim Palmgren was a Finnish composer, pianist and teacher active from the late 19th century into the mid-20th century, associated with the classical tradition and late-Romantic/Nordic musical idioms. His output, particularly piano miniatures, songs, chamber works and orchestral pieces, is characterised by lyrical pianism, elements of Finnish folk influence and a balance between Romantic expressiveness and clearer textures in his later works.
