Roland Neuwirth & Extremschrammeln are an Austrian ensemble formed in Vienna in the late 1970s that revitalised Schrammelmusik by blending traditional Viennese folk with jazz, blues and cabaret influences. Their work arranges traditional songs and new material in Viennese dialect with acoustic instrumentation and over time incorporated elements of rock and experimental music, situating Viennese musical tradition within contemporary cultural and urban contexts.
