Milton Nascimento

Milton Nascimento is a Brazilian singer-songwriter born in Rio de Janeiro and raised in Três Pontas, Minas Gerais, who began his recording career in the 1960s and is associated with MPB, jazz and folk-influenced music. Known for his high, plaintive vocal timbre and sophisticated harmonic language, his work blends Brazilian folk, gospel and jazz elements and evolved from acoustic, regionally rooted songs to incorporate orchestral arrangements and electric textures while he played a leading role in the Clube da Esquina movement that connected Minas Gerais musical traditions with broader Brazilian popular music.
